July 11 is National Mojito Day, which is as good a reason as any to muddle a fistful of mint and pretend you're somewhere with palm trees. The classic mojito is rum, lime, sugar, mint, and soda — bright, herbal, endlessly refreshing. The good news: four of those five ingredients have nothing to do with the alcohol. Pull the rum, drop in a cold THC seltzer, and you've got a mojito that tastes like summer and carries a gentle, low-dose lift instead of a buzz that turns into a headache.
Why the Mojito Was Always Half-Mocktail
Here's the secret bartenders already know: the mojito is one of the easiest cocktails to make without alcohol, because the parts everyone actually loves are the mint, the lime, and the fizz. Rum is the background note, not the star. Strip it out and the drink doesn't collapse the way a Manhattan would — it just gets lighter and cleaner, which on a 90-degree July afternoon is arguably an upgrade.
That's why the mojito is a natural fit for a THC seltzer swap. A bright, lightly sweet seltzer slides into the role that rum-and-soda used to play, carrying the lime and mint instead of fighting them. You keep the whole ritual — the muddling, the crushed ice, the sprig on top — and trade the next-morning tax for a 2.5mg dose that stays sociable. If you've never built a cocktail around a can before, our THC cocktail recipes and mocktail recipes are a good warm-up.
The THC Mojito Mocktail (Built on Floral)
This makes one tall glass. Our Key Lime seltzer is the move here — it's already in the citrus family, so it amplifies the lime instead of muddying it. Tropical works beautifully too if you want a more vacation-leaning version.
You'll Need
- 1 can Floral Key Lime seltzer (2.5mg Delta-9 THC), cold
- 8–10 fresh mint leaves, plus a sprig for garnish
- ½ a fresh lime, cut into wedges
- 1–2 tsp simple syrup or cane sugar (to taste)
- Crushed ice
Build It
- Drop the mint and lime wedges into a sturdy tall glass with the simple syrup.
- Muddle gently — press and twist 6–8 times. You want to bruise the mint and release the lime juice, not shred it. Over-muddling makes it bitter.
- Fill the glass with crushed ice.
- Pour the cold Key Lime seltzer slowly down the side. Pouring slow keeps the carbonation.
- Give it one gentle stir from the bottom to lift the mint and lime up through the glass.
- Slap a mint sprig between your palms (it wakes up the oils) and lay it on top.
The One Rule of Mint
Slap it, don't pulverize it. A firm clap between your hands releases the aromatic oils that make a mojito smell like a mojito. Garnish mint that's been beaten to a pulp just looks tired and tastes grassy.
One can, one drink, 2.5mg. That's a sessionable, low-dose serving — light enough that you can have it with the cookout and still flip the burgers. If you want to understand how a low dose like this actually lands before you sip, our dosing guide walks through the tiers.
The No-Mixing Shortcut: Our Mojito Zero
Love the idea, don't feel like muddling? We make a version for you. Mojito Zero is one of our zero-sugar cocktails — a ready-to-pour, full-strength mojito with that same lime-and-mint backbone and none of the cane sugar. It comes in at 10mg Delta-9 THC, so this is the grown-up, stronger end of the lineup, not the breezy 2.5mg seltzer version above.
That dose difference matters, so be deliberate about it:
The Seltzer Mojito (DIY)
2.5mg, built on a Key Lime seltzer. Light, sessionable, daytime-friendly. The one to pour for a group, or if you're newer to THC drinks.
Mojito Zero (ready-made)
10mg, zero sugar, no mixing. A bigger, evening-weight experience for an experienced palate. Sip it slow and give it time before you reach for a second.
Either way, the move is the same: start where you're comfortable and let it come to you. You can always pour a little more next time; you can't un-pour it tonight. Both live in the same place — our cocktails collection.
Make It a Mojito Bar
National Mojito Day is more fun as a group activity than a solo project. Set out a tray with cold seltzers, a bunch of mint, a bowl of lime wedges, simple syrup, crushed ice, and a couple of muddlers, and let people build their own. A few riffs that work:
- Strawberry mojito. Muddle a couple of fresh strawberries in with the mint and build it on a Strawberry Mango seltzer. Summer in a glass.
- Tropical mojito. Swap to the Tropical seltzer and add a thin wheel of cucumber for a spa-day version.
- Coconut mojito. A splash of coconut water and a Tropical seltzer leans the whole thing toward the beach.

Why This Beats the Rum Version on a July Afternoon
A real mojito is delicious and also a commitment — the sugar, the rum, and the heat add up fast, and three of them in the sun is a recipe for a nap you didn't plan. The seltzer version keeps the flavor and the ceremony but stays light on its feet. You get the cold glass, the herbal lift of the mint, the deliberate "the day is mine now" signal of making yourself a real drink — without the part where the afternoon disappears. That's the whole pitch for a THC drink in place of the cocktail: same ritual, lower consequences, you remember the evening.
