The cosmopolitan is a near-perfect drink: pink, tart, served up in a chilled coupe, equal parts sophisticated and fun. The only weak link is the vodka — the part that adds nothing to the flavor and everything to the next-morning regret. So let's keep the cosmo and lose the liquor. Here's how to build a non-alcoholic cosmopolitan on a Floral seltzer that nails the look, the tartness, and the grown-up feel, with a gentle low-dose lift in place of the booze.
What Actually Makes a Cosmo a Cosmo
Strip a cosmopolitan down to its essentials and the vodka is the least interesting part. The drink is defined by four things: the cranberry tartness, the citrus from lime and a splash of orange, that signature blush-pink color, and the ceremony of a stemmed glass with a flamed orange twist. Vodka is basically a neutral carrier — it's there for the alcohol, not the taste.
That's great news for a swap. Because the vodka contributes almost nothing to flavor, you can pull it out without leaving a hole. Replace it with a tart, citrusy THC drink and you keep all four defining traits — the cranberry bite, the citrus, the pink, the coupe — while trading an alcohol buzz for an even, low-dose lift. It's one of the cleaner alcohol-to-THC swaps out there precisely because the original leaned on the spirit so little.
The Non-Alcoholic THC Cosmo — Single Serving
This builds on a Floral Strawberry Mango seltzer, which brings fruit-forward sweetness that plays beautifully against tart cranberry. If you want it stronger, see the dial-up note further down.
You'll need
- 1 can Floral Strawberry Mango seltzer (2.5mg Delta-9), well chilled
- 1 oz unsweetened or 100% cranberry juice
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- Splash of orange juice (the "triple sec" stand-in)
- Ice for shaking
- An orange twist or lime wheel, to garnish
- Chill the coupe. A cosmo lives or dies on temperature. Put your stemmed glass in the freezer while you build, or fill it with ice water and dump it right before pouring.
- Shake the tart base. Add cranberry juice, lime juice, and the splash of OJ to a shaker with ice. Shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds until it's frosty. Hold the seltzer back.
- Strain into the chilled coupe. Pour the shaken base through a strainer into your cold glass, leaving the ice behind so the drink stays clean and "up."
- Top gently with the seltzer. Pour the Floral Strawberry Mango in slowly to preserve the fizz. This is your alcohol replacement and your dose — pour it as the final step, not into the shaker.
- Garnish and serve. Express an orange twist over the top (squeeze the peel to release the oils) and drop it in, or float a lime wheel. Sip it slow — the dosing note below explains why.
A note on color: real cranberry juice gives you that classic cosmo blush naturally, no dye needed. If your cranberry is on the pale side, a few muddled fresh raspberries or a bar-spoon of pomegranate juice deepens the pink without changing the flavor much.
Dialing the Strength Up
The 2.5mg seltzer build is your everyday, sip-and-socialize cosmo. When you want something with a little more presence — a real "Friday night" version — swap the base for one of our cane-sugar or zero-sugar cocktails in 5mg or 10mg. The method doesn't change; only the can does.
2.5mg — the social cosmo
Light and easy. The version you can have at the start of a dinner party and still host gracefully. Built on a seltzer.
5mg — the happy-hour cosmo
A sturdier lift that holds its own as the one good drink of the evening. Built on a 5mg cocktail.
10mg — the nightcap cosmo
Full strength, for experienced sippers who know their tolerance. One is plenty. Built on a 10mg cocktail.
Not sure which tier is yours? Our THC cocktail recipes walk through how to think about strength across different builds, and if you'd rather keep it dose-free for a guest, the same cosmo works as a true mocktail — just see the THC mocktail recipes for non-infused versions you can serve alongside.
When the THC Cosmo Earns Its Place
This is a drink with range. It looks the part at a dinner party, which makes it a graceful option for the guest who isn't drinking but still wants something in a real glass that feels like an occasion — no one has to know or care that there's no vodka in it. It's a natural fit for a date night where you'd both rather wake up clear. And it's genuinely fun to make, which counts for something; the shake-and-strain ritual is half the appeal of a cocktail in the first place.
It also scales. A pitcher of the shaken cranberry-citrus base in the fridge plus a cooler of cold seltzers means you can build cosmos to order all evening without standing at the blender. Just remember the dose math: one can per glass keeps each cosmo at a predictable strength, the same way you'd pour one shot per drink with vodka.
The Responsible-Sip Footnote
A cosmo is small, tart, and goes down easy — which is exactly why it's worth slowing down. The drink's job is to be the nice one, not the fast one. Have it, give the THC 45 minutes to an hour to settle in, and only then decide whether you want a second. Start with the 2.5mg build if it's your first THC cocktail, and never stack a second just because the first hasn't fully arrived.
